About Sunflowers Preschool

Sunflowers is a new preschool situated in a prime location of Yeovil close to two well established primary schools.

At Sunflowers Preschool, we understand every child is unique. We aim to provide a caring and safe environment for your children . By following our vision and values, we hope to create a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming learning environment for all children aged 2-4 years.
We wish to provide the children with the tools they need to explore and learn through play and develop a life-long love of learning to take forward to main school. Our curriculum is designed to encourage the children to become confident, creative, independent and resilient.

Meet Angie
I started my career in childcare as a registered childminder in Wantage, Oxfordshire, almost 24 years ago.

After moving to Yeovil in 2001, I completed voluntary work at local infant schools, before starting work at a Junior school.

I worked at a Junior school as a lunchtime supervisor, teaching assistant, 1:1 support worker and cover teacher for 15 years, where I helped set-up and manage a breakfast club. In 2012, I qualified as a HLTA cover teacher and went on to achieve a foundation degree in 'Childhood Studies, Care and Education'

In January 2022, I left education to become a Learning Support Worker for adults with learning difficulties. Although, when the opportunity arose to fulfil a life long dream of opening my own preschool, I could not refuse!

In September 2023, Sunflowers Preschool will start its journey and aim to bloom to its full potential, delivering outstanding practice to all those who attend.
I very much look forward to helping to facilitate your child's full learning potential.

Meet Harriet
Since leaving school in 2010 I went to college to gain my level 2 and 3 in childcare. I started an apprenticeship in a nursery setting and have been working within nurseries and preschools ever since, with small breaks in between to have my two children.

I have always enjoyed helping children to grow and develop. I’m lucky to have been given this opportunity to become deputy manager at sunflowers working alongside Angie and Charlotte to become part of the team, where I will be able to further my skills and knowledge within this lovely preschool setting.

Meet Charlotte
Hi there, I'm Charlotte. My goal in life was to have children of my own and work with children. I always liked the idea of making a difference to a child's life. Giving them the best start they can have by being a safe person that can help them grow and learn. Doing GCSE childcare confirmed for me that I wanted to continue childcare at college after finishing school.
I passed my Level 3 in Childcare and Education in July 2013. After finishing my course, I moved to Swansea for a year and worked in a private nursery. I then moved back to Yeovil, where I worked in a few nurseries around the area, had my two beautiful girls and took a bit of a break from childcare whilst focusing on being a mum. I currently help out a childminder after school and assist her in providing a safe place with activities for children when they have finished their day at school.
When this job came up at Sunflowers Preschool, both of my girls had started school, so I jumped at the opportunity as I knew I wanted to go back to doing what I love; looking after children.
I want to thank Angie for this great opportunity of being a Lead Practitioner and hope I can pass on new ideas and be part of a great team alongside the other amazing staff. Both life goals achieved for me.

Meet Robyn
I've always known from a young age that working with young children is something I would like to do so when I finished school in 2004 I went straight onto Yeovil College to start my childcare studies, whilst working in a nursery two days a week.
After completing my first year, I took a couple of years out from studying, but couldn't wait to get back into it. So, in 2008 I started my apprenticeship with Paragon Skills, completing Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications whilst working in a nursery full time.
I completed my apprenticeship after three years and started working in another nursery up until having my first child in 2015, where I then became a stay-at-home mum. In 2020 I started working at Busy Bees pre-school until falling pregnant with my second child.
I am so grateful to have now been given the opportunity to become part of the team at Sunflowers, where I can progress and develop my knowledge and skills further whilst offering compassionate, dedicated childcare.

Meet Toni
Hi my name is Toni. I did some childcare when I was 18, in a children's soft play area, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I then left to do a NVQ in Hospitality.
I joined Angie and the wonderful staff at Sunflowers preschool in March 2024. I am currently doing my Level 3 qualification in Early Years.
I have always wanted to work in the early years sector, but have never had the opportunity until now. I am forever grateful to Sunflowers for giving me the chance to work within such a great team, who have really helped and supported me with my learning journey, where I look forward to gaining more knowledge and skills in the future.
